As a Midwesterner myself, I was unprepared for how accurate Jellyfishlines' descriptions of the people who live here. This game spoke to my core, and through playing this solo journaling game, I was able to connect so many real-life stories and weave them into tales inspired by the game's Townies archetypes.
Through three acts of play, you are guided through Celebratory and Painful events, and you decide how your city and your townies react to each. Through play, I saw pain reflected from so many of my family members and neighbors, and I also saw the persistence that makes these communities last, even after decades of turmoil.
There's a bittersweetness to this game that will inspire my game-playing and game-making for a very long time. If you are looking for a game with heart, you've found it.
